I have been fighting a continuous weight gain for the past 5 years. It's not fun, it's depressing as anyone who deals with being overweight knows. I am 5 1" and weight 153 (really stinks seeing it in black and white),I bought a medium. When I took the shaper out of the sealed package (packaging very well done) I thought ..this is for a child. I hid in the bathroom so my husband wouldn't see me, but near enough I could yell "bring the scissors" if I failed as Houdini. I was REALLY surprised it fit. It is not a miracle "I am a size 6" again, but it is confortable, all over. One thing I would suggest is before you begin the tug of war, make the bra straps as long as possible, first try they were way too tight, but just so you know they are removable. I agree about what someone else wrote about posture, it makes you feel, more comfortable with yourself, if that makes any sense at all. Now if they could just create a bra with a built in air conditioner\fan for hot flashes..
